I have been using Subversion version control for some time now, and one very interesting aspect of basing development on Site5 hosting (this is not an ad, even tho it sounds like it) is the fact that you can have version control repositories for development or site version control.
I actually have had many hosting experiences where they prohibit you using “server processes of any kind”. Which discourages developers of course. Also, wherever you are, you can still get to work.
